The Birth of a Novel

I've always wanted to write a full-length sci-fi novel ever since I started reading the genre. I was sucked into the world of fantasy at a young age and subsequently science fiction once I realized there was a specific genre about the advancements of science. Many different books and their writers have served as inspiration to me many a time, but the most influential series have been the Halo series, Anne Aguirre's Sirantha Jax series, and recently Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game series. These stories of space battles, sassy women, and philosophically influenced science have helped me think of a few ideas for a story that I want to write for others to enjoy.

The main character, one Scarlett Rayne Harper, has been alive in my head for the last few years, gaining more personality over time, but I think now is the time to try to at least start writing her story down. I'm actually just afraid I'll start forgetting all the details I'm thinking of so I thought I'd store them in the infinite reaches of the internet. And everyone knows that blogs last forever. I'm convinced there are huge graveyards of blogs in the nether regions of cyberspace that hold the forgotten cries of adolescents, abandoned yet immortalized.

Anyway, I have a few characters thought out and a basic plot line, but that's all. I want to use this blog to flesh out all of my characters (I mean, a space pirate captain needs a crew and a rugged badboy to fall in love with, right?), refine the plot, add twists, and hopefully create a novel that could perhaps one day be published. If you choose to follow this adventure, I only ask that you have patience because I'm sure it'll be a long and crazy ride.
